My car (89 200, 135K miles) is exhibiting some strange behavior after having
new parking brake cables installed. I don't know how it could be related
unless the mechanic was messing around with the car. The symptoms are: auto
check alarm (shreiking noise) continuously on 9 times out of ten after the
car is started. Radio /tape is audible but has some bizarre interference.
It began doing this as soon as I picked up the car. I brought it to the
shop's attention right away but they were skeptical they had anything to with
it. After examining the car they said it was either a worn out ignition
swith or a bad door lock cylinder. Anyone BTDT? This shop isn't that
knowledgeable as far as Audis are concerned but it was just handbrake cables
for God's sake.... I want to know if this is likely attributable to them or
just an unfortunate cooincidence. Any help will be _greatly _ appreciated.
Please e-mail me directly as I only receive the digest.
