Wouldnt that be the other way around? MB going after VW by offering compacts and
straight delivery vans?

In any case, all (well, almost all) car factories are out seeking new grounds to
play on. It isnt that strange to see VW entering the luxury or SUV market in a
few years, nor is it strange to see MB pumping out small hatchbacks and
city-zippers. And this is only two of the many car factories!
