On the M1 ...

Does anyone else remember the book "On The Beach?"  This sure sounds to me
like the perfect opportunity for "alternatively" fueled vehicles to have a
field day!  Alky or nitro-methane anyone?  What's more it sure seems like
those charged with upholding the laws of the empire might have an arm behind
their backs as well ... I wonder how fast they can go on horseback?
