Evan - We've had several discussions about this on the Audi V8 list. The most
likely cause of your flooding problem is the fuel pressure regulator - a
50-60.00 part. There has been a few reports of problems other than the
stripped teeth, but by and large it appears the flex plate is the sacrficial
part here.
My recommendation is to pull the trans by itself - mainly because that's
Audi's recomendation in the V8 manual. With a lift and a helper, its about a 6
- 8 hour job total in and out. Take the extra step and replace the rear main
seal while yer in there... Make sure you index the flex plate and move the
sensor pin from the old plate to the new one or it won't start... Getting that
upper starter bolt out is a bear until you figure it out. Everything else is
pretty straightforward. Make sure you disconnect the procon 10 cables from the
trans. Another good idea is to do the rack while the trans is out - its mighty
easy with everything out of the way.

90 Lago Blue V8q - trans under repair again shortly
90 Tornado Red V8q - under consideration...
