Speaking of rare sold cars..

My grandfather owned a 250 Lusso Berlinetta Ferrari, perhaps one of the most
sought after Ferraris ever. If you saw one, you;d know why. It was owned by
Bill Hanscom in Providence, RI, and was used as a template to re-build the
panels on his 250GTO after he flipped the car corner to corner a few times in
a race. My grandfather bought the car from the slightly intoxicated Hanscom
for about 7K$, and was forced to sell it, Columbo V12, Borani Magnesium wire
wheels and all, for about 14K in the 70's. He thought he made out. Same (as
in, his car) car sold for 265,000$ in 1989. Still worth well over 125,000,
and I'd get to drive it.

Oh well, I'll have to settle for the 1926 Bentley. :-)

Later!
Carter
