Steve's right about checking the other stuff, but, if the sunroof is also
not working and your car is '87 or newer, then it's likely the double wide
Siemens module that is on the fritz. It's actually very complicated
internally, containing 2 circuit boards and at least 2 relays. The boards
are surface mounted, containing an amazing number of components for a part
made in the middle 80's. I had the same problem just this week, with the
windows abruptly stopping working (either down or up, and usually at the
worst possible time, like entering a car wash with the windows down) and the
sunroof also failing to work. I replaced the module with one from the gray
'87 that is awaiting its loom transplant (ersatz parts car). The problem was
completely solved.
