You are correct of course (BTW, Audi also has non HID projectors), but the
point I was attempting to get across is that the factory systems with the
HID bulbs usually have an advanced mirror/lens system as well ... meaning
that even if someone paid the bucks to install an HID bulb in their stock
lights they should not expect to miraculously have illumination like the
cars which came with HID-bulbs from the factory.  If your vehicle already
has a good mirror/lens design (like a non HID projector setup) it might help
to do a HID conversion, but if you could find HID 9004s and put 'em in the
buckets of your '88 5k turbo you would not likely have an improvement
commensurate with the amount of $$ you put into the project.
