Following advice of several listers who did not want me to become a BBQ, I
undid the hardwiring of the fuel pump and replaced it with Resistor/Zener
mod on Sat. Thank you all who provided me with instructions.
Took the car out for a drive and "check engine" indicator was coming on any
time I had to shift, at about 3,000RPM. As soon as I took my foot off the
pedal it went off, the symptom very similar to when a few years ago I had to
use 89 octane gas. I am using 94 now, so it's not a reason. My in-dash boost
gauge is kaput which means that zener works as intended. Car is pulling
strong and feels better than stock although I am not pushing it until I
check the boost with auxiliary gauge. I turned the W/G cap bolt up so it is
in about 1.5Bar position (from my memory). I pulled the codes and got 2221
which per Scott Mockry means:
"Manifold Pressure too low, too high, control difference.
Vacuum hose to ECU pressure sensor
Vacuum hose missing or leaking,
Check hose
Symptom: Loss of Power"
None of these symptoms applies, as I checked for leaks and found none and
car has plenty of power.
I hope somebody can tell me what the hell is wrong.
Thanks in advance,
Efraim
