2.5l MC

Let's say I was to purchase a 2.5 liter short block from Eurospec,
and use it with the rest of my '88 5kcstq motor.
I was wondering if it were possible to, or rather what would it take
to, convert the motor to dual knock sensor configuration, using
parts from a later model MC. Is it a complete swap, requiring the
wiring harness and ecu (I assume ecu, that would be a MAC14,
right, and I have a MAC11?)
I thought that since the motor would be 8.5:1 c/r, that it might be
better to have an engine management system that is supposed to
be dealing with the higher compression. Is it even a problem?
Perhaps the J&S Safeguard knock sensor would be another
solution to the same concern. Is there anyone on this list using
that device? I saw on http://www.miata.net, in the forced induction
classifieds (why can't we have one of these, so chock full of used
turbo and supercharger kits!), someone sold a used J&S unit.
Comments welcome.
Later,
Ken
