4k rally car

I saw Matt in action on Saturday, it is a nice visible car (orange) from
back before the rabbit/golf got so bloated. The turbo makes sure it
doesn't sound, or move for that matter, like a normal rabbit. Anyway it
is too bad there weren't more Audis out there. If Audi would like to
compete with Subaru on the American market (maybe they don't) they should
get out there and run ProRally. I saw more Subaru 2.5 RS's driven by
spectators than I thought existed, yet there were very few Audis and
almost no newer modals.

While watching the rally I did have an idea, perhaps spurred by thoughts
of 1980's group B Audi rally cars. It was of building a short wheelbase
4kq. I do have a fascination with cutting cars in half, but it seems like
if you were ripping everything out, welding in a rollcage, installing a
fuelcell, replumbing brakes etc. and replacing the exhaust it wouldn't be
that much more trouble to cut 10"-12" from behind the "B" pillar. You
would also have to get the driveshaft shortened, but if successful it
would be a very unusual and probably improved car and if not a 4k body
can't be worth all that much. I am probably insane, but why not consider
it?
