no, actually the j&s controls timing by driving the coil. It receives input 
from the hall effect sender or crank trigger. The J&S would control the 
ignition timing for you and retard a max. of 20 deg. for each cylinder. 
There's a optional readout that tells you how much timing it's taking out 
per cylinder. It can be made to work w/ any kind of setup, even 
Electromotive or SDS kits...
