Can't pinpoint rubbing/friction noise from front wheel of 89 200tqa

experiencing slight rubbing/dragging/friction noise from front left wheel.
noticeable at take off and low speed (especially going up hills).  thought
it was sticking caliper.  replaced twice w/ one known good caliper from
donor car and one brand new caliper and it still rubs.  rotors are new gas
slotted, pads are new pbr metalmasters, new wheel bearing (less than 2 weeks
old), swapped front drive shafts (eliminated cv), and it's not the slash
shield rubbing against the rotor.  what am i missing here?  thanx.
