At Last...

Back in the last few days of June 99 my 88 Ur quattro suffered a broken
Woodruff key in the crankshaft timing belt gear which left the engine with
10 bent valves and 5 damaged pistons.

One thing led to another and I've ended up stripping and rebuilding the car
over the last 15 months, but today at long last I fired up the engine for
the first time. Sounds great, runs smoothly but leaks water like h*ll from
somewhere around the front of the engine. I suspect that its from the area
of the water pump even though I fitted a new pump and sealing washer.

I'd always been unsure how much fuel was left in the tank when the low
warning started to flash but now I know that its rather a lot. I put two
gallons in the dry tank and they don't even register on the gauge.
