R134 Retrofit - What's really involved?

A/C experts:

My girlfriend is about ready to purchase a 4kq without working A/C.  We're 
looking at a good bit of work and $$ to get it working again, among other 
things the condenser is missing and the compressor my need replacing.  It 
seems to me that now would be the wisest time to change the system over to 
R-134.  What is involved?  Is it just replacing all the seals on the hoses 
(as I was planning to do anyways), the oil and the refrigerant, or is there 
more to it than that?
