if you're experiencing a clunk that appears to be coming from the driver's
side front wheel but no matter what you replace (strut insert, strut mount,
strut bearing, wheel bearing, tie rod, control arm, driveshaft) it doesn't
go away, TRY ADJUSTING YOUR CENTER DRIVESHAFT AND ADD IT TO YOUR LIST OF
PROBABLE CAUSES OF FRONT END NOISE. it worked for me and it was real easy
to do. jack up front driver's side, loosen the two (2) 13mm nuts, center
bracket as accurately as possible (or skew slightly to the side that
eliminates/minimizes clunking/rattling) and tighten. go for a ride over
your favorite bumps/potholes and grin from ear to ear. even bentley
suggests adjusting it before replacing so it must be a common and overlooked
solution.
