First... pull...the...codes....

This is probably the easiest way to detect a fault. If you are unfamiliar
with this procedure check: www.sjmautotechnik.com for details and code
translations.
Then tell us what you get, it'll narrow things down considerably. Or, it
could be a plugged filter, bad fuel pump, injectors, reference sensor, hall
effect sensor, RPM sensor, bad plugs/wires/cap/rotor, out of gas..... you
get the idea :)
