'01 A4 clutch question

I, too, am a foot-off-the-clutch stoplight sitter who's never replaced a
clutch or tranny in any of the cars I've bought since several years before
Jon started driving. The only tranny I've ever had trouble with is the
slushbox in my bride's '79 Suburban 3/4-ton 4X4. We had to have that
replaced several years ago. That piece of trash has had a new engine, new
transfer case, new front drive shaft, half the body replaced because of
rust-through (and it's all rusting through again), as well as the
replacement tranny. It has less than half the mileage as any of my
Audis, all of which show more than 160K miles.
