Instrument cluster dead

Going to work this morning, I looked at my instrument cluster (dash) and
discovered that it was dead. All gauge were dead. With my previous 4000S
1985, this happened following the burn out of the alternator. I hope now
that it is just related to a fuse.

Here is my question, with the 4000S, fuse for the cluster instrument should
be OK in order to initiate the alternator, you know, "the battery light" in
the dash. Without electricity in the dash, the alternator is not going to
charge the battery. Is it the same thing for the 90S 1993-on ?
