what makes a 90 a "sport" model

Dave,
AFAIK the 90S is just a trim level, and not necessarily the "sport" option.
The only major thing with the sports is different shocks, the springs being
the same. Go to a dealer, and they'll quote you replacement sport shocks
for this model which are 4X the price of the regular shocks (Boges)!
Apart from that there may be different seats, but a lot of the other stuff
(climate control, rear spoiler, etc... was available on "non-sport" quattro
models as well).
12v V6 (AAH) was used in the '93-'95 90s (and I think in the A4 from
'96-'97?)
