Looking at a MAC tool catalog the other day, I ran into the following
device for the removal of oil seals (discussion prompted by drill and
wallboard method).
Tool is roughly shaped like an "L", looks to be about a foot long (but
really can't tell from the pix).
At the top of the "L", there's a little hook, which slips behind the seal.
Now you hammer on the inside of the short leg of the "L" which is closest
to the engine. This supposedly pulls the seal out. There's also a handle (I
guess to keep you from hammering on your fingers), but according to the
picture, it is directly in the path of the hammer . . . so I moved it.
