4000skq won't start

  Yesterday I was coming home from a friends house and I had  a problem.  I was revved to about 5000rpm's and suddenly I started to lose power.  I depressed the clutch and tapped the gas pedal a few times and there was nothing.  I did it a few more times and the car came back to life.  I drove home the reast of the way with no problems,but this morning It wouldn't start.  I checked the KE fuseand it looked find.  There was a strong smell of gas when I tried to start it this morning,and it did run for about 3 sec. before it died.  Pumping the gas had no effect at all. Does anyone have any ideas.
