Steve,
I don't know what the cause of the low boost could be, but the following
website is a good start
http://www.sjmautotechnik.com/
I have a 87 5000 turbo quattro for sale if you are interested. I just
bought a 92 S4 and need to sell my 87.
I did a lot of work the first year I owned it, the second year has been
pretty uneventful.
Where are you located?, I am in Southern Maine
Jack

Subject: Finding a 5kcstq
I have been looking for a 86-90 5000-200 turbo Quattro. I have noticed the
cars are very solid, except for a few with tappy valves, steering rack
leaks, and minor interior problems. But I have noticed that several don't
show the correct spec for boost. 1.3-1.4 is the correct peak range. I
looked at a couple of both stock and modified. The modified cars had a cold
air intake or the a k&n air filter, combined with a modified waste gate.
These modified cars did not pull to the 1.3-1.4 range. Could improved
breathing lower the pressure or is this a sign of improper mods, or
impending doom?
Steve
