My guess is bad gas.
Did she fill up recently before bad running?
My rabbit just started sputtering after a fillup tonight.
CIS seems to be picky about fuel quality.

Hey:
Anyone out there know of a N. America-spec Audi that runs 230x40 rear
drum brakes? Drum part # is 191 609 617A...
Trying to source the parts for a rebuild on an odd VW...

nervous about TDC?
pull # spark plug, and rest a skinny screwdriver or pencil on the top of
the piston. rotate engine slowly (coil unplugged, key out...) until it
is at its highest.
The front two cam lobes, sometimes visible thru the oil cap hole, should
be both pointing up, at equal angles to the head. pulling the cam cover
would let you put a straightedge across them and measure to the head if
you want.
Now look at your timing reference marks (cam gear, flywheel) and see how
they compute.

Eau contrair (Esperanto for "el wrongo."), mon frier (Yiddish for
"the man who fries my potatoes."). I am happy, sort of, to report
having run the KDW 215-50-16 for about 4k miles last summer/fall,
including 150 miles at PIR in November. The report: pretty cheap
($565 on the car, from Discount's local outlet), pretty loud,
good "road" handling wet or dry, ride comfort is not much
different from the 215-60-15 Comp TAs I run in the winter, except
over _really_ bad train tracks and such (stock springs, Spax
adjustable struts/shocks). However, after one lap on el tracko,
they give up, and have about 0.07 "g" cornering performance.
Oddly, after all that time squealing and understeering around
PIR, they showed no wear except for the inner edges of the tread
blocks being rounded off.
Summary: I would buy them again, for an OK/cheap street tire, but
not for the track (maybe OK for autox, if anyone is foolish
enough to try same in these giant wallowing beasts).

The dealer that sold me my 1995 S6 Avant provided me with the incorrect
cassette/magazine for the OEM cd changer (6 disc unit, I think). Dealer
sent me part numer 4DO 051 179 w/description of CD MAGAZIN. There is no way
it will fit in the CD changer that is in the car.
Does anyone know what the correct part number is? Or, do I have the right
thing and I am simply on drugs?
Thanks,

For a 1995 model, the CD changer should be a 10-disc unit. I don't
have the part number but perhaps this bit of info would help you
locate the right one.

Subject: turn into parking lot, divider between lanes, dark out, bang bang,

Date: Sun, 1 Apr 2001 23:22:56 -0500
Saturday night I was driving through beautiful Chicago in the rain, turned
into a parking lot, didn't notice the divider in the entrance, big tall
concrete thing, bang, bang, and all of a sudden i have to hold my wheel at
45 degrees off center to go straight. Today I took my 89 90q to NTB then
Sears to get an alignment, NTB had noone qualified on hand, and Sears told
me that I either destroyed my control arm or bent my frame. The car doesn't
wobble and seems to be steering well except for the wheel not wanting to
come back to center when I let go. I NEED to take my car somewhere that can
help me ASAP as this is my only car. I'm located in Evanston IL, north side
of Chicago and work in Glenview, near McGrath Audi dealership. I really
want to avoid the dealership if at all possible, but they may be the best
place to at least diagnose the problem unless someone on the list can
suggest somewhere better, nicer, more knowledgeable, cheaper, with a shorter
waiting list, etc.
ANY help, suggestions, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

That would get my vote too. Easy to check on the 5K, just remove the O2
sensor and see if she runs. This will also get you home. The 5KS has a
tendency to disintigrate, and the chunks o cat get lodged downstream in
the exhaust, sooner or later plugging it completely.

Can someone confirm please how much injectors should cost in Canada. I need
them for my 88 5k tq.
I have a hunch I should change them. I had all my vacuum hoses checked and
replaced, plugs, filters, and injector seals. I also added injector
cleaners, but the car still takes about 5 secs to start, and my idle is a
bit shaky.
Any other reasons? Any thoughts?
Thanks in advance,

I'm not sure whether the Quantum Syncro uses discs or drums, have a look
there. The other possibility is a Golf Syncro which the US never got. I
see the part number begins with 191 which is the type designation for the
Golf 2.

Total cost for my non-turbo was right on budget. Of course, mine just
plopped right in, with just normal rebuilding stuff and cutting out the
center support.

Remember that the cam goes round once to the crank's

Just took my 92 90q 2.8 V6 on a 100 miles drive and as I parked it and
stopped the engine there was the sound of *something* spinning down from
what sounds like very high rpm - the closet thing I can compare it to is a
turbo (a previous car was a SAAB 900 Turbo) spinning down after a run ( or
come to think of it a plane shutting the main engines down after coming to
rest). Anyway it stopped about 3 seconds after the crank has stopped turning
and I haven't a clue what it could be. The engine has aircon that dosen't
work (as I found out yesterday) but we where using it on and off during the
drive. Not sure how relevant the aircon is but I know next to nothing about
it.
On another note I'm using VAG-COM to get the trouble codes from the car -
555 - (O2 sensors - surprise !) but looking in the Bentley it suggests
looking at block 10 to get the output voltage from the sensors, but VAG-COM
says that blocks 1 - 25 are not available - does this mean that I can not
measure the output voltage of the O2 sensors ? (Engine is a 1992 AHH type)

The more interesting thing is that it appears to have individual power seats

Take a look at the position of the seat cushions in the link you posted. And
the controls in the door arm rest in this photo.

Hey gang,
Just got back from Seattle on Sat night. Wow, what a cool town. Kinda
short on Audi's thou. I guess those of us living in the northeast shouldnt
expect everyplace to have 9 billion A4/A6's cruising around. I did see the
following however.
2 89-90 200tq one in pearl and one in grey if i remember the colors
correctly. Both were in the parking lot of Snoqualmie (spelling) Falls
outside Seattle on Sunday the 25th. One of the cars was definatly modified
with what looked like 7 spoke A6 wheels and possibly suspension changes.
Didnt get much of a chance to look them over however.
1 yes just ONE! A6 in downtown Seattle. With all the software guys out
there with $$$ I figured there would be a zillion of them, but there weren't
1 A4... same thoughts as the A6
and finally 1 87 5000s looked like it was in pretty good shape acutally and
i saw it a couple of times as i walked by it on the way to my friends house
up near the capital hill area.
Seattle was quite a nice town thou and i cant wait to go back and visit.
And I would definatly love to increase the Audi per captia there :)
I tell you though, after a week of taking the bus around seattle, I was VERY
happy to see my car waiting for me in the parking lot of the airport :)
Later
