Oil Consumption woes or normality?

changing the lifters will quiet them.
oil consumption could be...
leaky valve stem seals (see earlier post!)
leaking or damaged rings
scored or worn cylinders
these three burn the oil, so it sorta disappears.
oil seal leakage (crank, cam, rear main)
gasket leakage (cam cover, oil pan, oil pump, vacuum pump)
sender leakage (oil temp, either oil press.)
loose or missing oil pump or oil pan bolts...
these last four all should provide evidence in the form of a mess
nearby.
sounds like a quart every 1200 miles, which is bearable but pretty
irritating. I halved my coupe's oil consumption be doing the stem
seals, from about where you are at to a quart every 2000-2500 or so.
