When it's warmer outside, wouldn't the cold start injectors be on
less, and everything else on the engine (including the oil) get up to
operating temperature faster? I think that alone would cause some
improvement in fuel economy. When you also subtract the drag created
by your alternator churning out the power to run your heater fan,
defroster, and heated seats, there's a little more. And now for the
really tiny amount of drag saved due to warmer air being less dense.
I suppose tires might also create less drag when they don't have a
flat spot frozen in them from being parked overnight in frigid
weather. Lots of small items, but I suppose they add up to a
measurable amount.
