well... if they are triggered by one plug pulse, the 4/5/6/8 thing
doesn't even matter - since one pulse = one revolution, right? If it
runs off a coil signal, however, it must do the dividing and your theory
sounds correct. In fact the one with the adjustable knob could just be
set empirically, who cares how many cylinders it thinks you have, just
set it go off at whatever tach indication you like.
