Yes, Diesel engines will last a long time. MAYBE the marketing fools don't
want us to have a *Long term* car. Cuts down on repeat sales?? I have heard
several excuses from Mercedes Benz and Audi executives explaining the lack
of Diesel powered cars into the U-S. Poor quality Diesel fuel, too much
sulfer in American Diesel fuel, no one will buy Diesel cars, yada-yada,
etc....

Gee, how can little 'ol Volkswagen get their 50MPG TDI into United States,
AND certified on this terrible American Diesel fuel. VW has the little
Lupo-TDI in Europe that manages 90MPG on Diesel. However, NO ONE at
Mercedes Benz can clearly explain to me why Benz, with their high
technology, cannot market a Diesel car into the US.

I don't think so. There is a strong anti-Diesel group in this country. Why,
I cannot explain. Perhaps someone else can enlighten us!
