Alternator and Central locking system controller

Some can be fixed with a new VR but there are a lot of other issues that
can't, here is a small sample:

* Bearing failure, due to the low mounting of the alt. the bearings are
subjected to a lot of abuse, water, snow, slush and a few other "choice "
ilks
* Diode failure, very difficult to fix with a new VR, not as common as VR
failure but does happen
* Low output of OEM alt. In other words not "enough Juice", a problem
recognized by Audi which has come up with several bulletins to correct the
problem, using high power lights exacerbate the problem.

Take care,

Avi

IME a lot of alternator faults can be fixed with a new
brush/reg pack....cheap and you can fit it without
taking the alt off the car
