It's official, a 2.3 4000 quattro is amazing....

For some reason (must provide the flame mail) I'm
going to chime in between margaritas.  That never
ending quest for power will get the best of you
eventually.  When I did my conversion I asked the same
question, why am I doing this for an extra 10 or 15
HP?  The NG engine is snappier, but at 6000 ft it does
loose lots of its guts, not to mention it completely
dies at 9000 ft. up the passes.  This is why turbo
cars rule in these parts.  I am running 9 lbs of boost
on my MC swap right now with the stock 90q fuel
system.  Essentially the swap was the same except for
the intercooler mounting that requires only a few
extra hours to cut out.  I've raced TT Quattros neck
and neck, couldn't pass em, but kept up with them. 
Congratulations on the extra power, don't listen to
me, I'm one of those guys who always has to tear stuff
apart and try to make it better.
