90 V8

I have the opportunity to buy a '90 V8 for around 7K  it has only 70,000 original miles, was owned by an Audi Exec.  Has been resonably maintained, and brakes are upgraded to G60 Girlings and have recently been done.  Has two sets of wheels, is dark blue with grey leather.  I currently have a very nice '87 tqw with chip, and new clutch as well as many other new pieces including injectors, radiator, radiator fan, euro headlights, new dunlop sport 5000's, Koni's has black leather that is perfect. My question is this.  Would the V8 be an upgrade or am I getting into a potential problem.  I have always liked the looks of the V8 but have been a little hesitant of the motor and the Auto trans.  Any comments would be appreciated.
