Questions about hot-rodding an I-5

Hi!

For my second post, I'd like to ask all of you who have tried upgrading a 
NG/NF K-Jetronic engine with a sport-cam (260/270 degrees), polished and 
ported head, free-flow exhaust and K&N airfilter (or part of these mods) how 
does the engine run, what about fuel economy and feel of the engine at 
normal driving (not sporty-driving)...
I'd like to do these mods on my car (85 Coupe Quattro-136 HP), but feel a 
little reticent about the fuel economy (actual highway is about 33-34 mpg) 
because actual fuel price in Belgium is about 5.4 USD per gallon!!!yup you 
put it, it's expensive, you lucky american fellows!!!

I'm waiting for your answers and reactions.

PS: I won't consider the 10V/20V turbo upgrade for gearbox/wiring/annual 
technical control reasons...
