I replaced a clutch that was less than a year old....

>New EM bolts

There were different thread lengths for these when Huw and I did
them...Didn't seem to matter as the downpipe hooked on just fine, but it
was something we took note of, but only after the locktite had gone on.

>New head bolts (perhaps the http://www.raceware-fasteners.com/prod01.htm
>version but they are $200+ ouch!)

I'd have to see tests confirming some difference...Otherwise, OE is just fine.

>port and polish head (maybe)

This one should be a definite...I had 6 hours of work done, and it seems to
hae made a difference in throttle response, but that could be so many other
things including the cam and about a million other things...

>If by some rare chance the head is cracked (yikes) how much would a new one
>(or good used) be?

New? hehehhehe, if you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Good used, I'd ask Semple @ Force5auto.com, as he probably has one kicking
around.
They're not terribly priced used.
