Clean ISV -- takes 5 minutes

Front upper strut mounts -- replace with Ur-q part.

Never heard of that one. ODO is electronically controlled...maybe they
have a bad connection somewhere? Probably not hard to find or fix.

Probably needs new O2 sensors, or to clean out the EGR system. Neither
are very hard.

Which bar?

Granted, it's not the best, but it's not such a dog, especially in the
90. 7 years ago, when the engine was new, its performance was on par
with its peers.

Needs resistor pack -- not hard.

Color-subjective -- I like it, actually. Much better than the solid red
illumination they used in the A4's. Easier on the eyes than the bright
green that you see in other cars. As for low illumination, your friend
knows he can turn it up, right? It gets pretty bright, and if he has
trouble seeing it when its turned all the way up he probably shouldn't
be driving at night.

Subjective, I guess. I don't mind them at all.

So anyway, who is "they" exactly, and if they don't like the 90, why
don't they just get a BMW 325, which they will probably love to death
even though it's no more reliable (probably less)? That or a Honda,
which will be perfectly reliable and they can get blue balls so that
people will think that they drive a cool expensive car.

Just $.02 ... it sounds to me like this person just doesn't know how to
take very good care of their car. Why don't they put it up for sale,
let someone who will enjoy it buy & fix it, and they can get the car
they really want?
