Help needed with an 87CGT

Hello:
Been lurking for while and now I have a problem, car too...
I have an 87CGT with 150K that runs fine, or did until a few days ago.
It is very hard to start, the motor turns over quickly, starts for a few
seconds, stumbles and dies. This happens about 10 times before it actually
catches, stumbles for a minute and then runs.
Also...
Yesterday, while driving, the "battery" and "brake light" indicator on the
dash started to glow. And the voltage indicator indicated only 12 volts,
usually it is at 14 when running. When keeping the revs past 4000 it goes up
to 14V's. Another sigh is a weak "buzzing" sound when the key is inserted but
not turned or started. I did not leave the "key in the ignition and opened
the door" but it sounds like that only more faint.
Where do I start on these problems?
I am reasonable "all thumbs" but willing to give it a try.

Thanks to everyone who may have an idea.

Ron
