Another Fuel Pump Humming

About the fuel pumps...
I just changed ours ('89 100 non) yesterday. Did it on the spur of the
moment, tired of the hum. Went to a favorite import parts house here in
Louisville, KY (Victory Imports) and got a rebuilt unit for $140, by Python
injection. $45 core. Car now runs and sounds like a different animal,
altogether. Checked the price of new ($312) and thought, no thanks. There
are other pumps, Pierburg for example, that could be put in place of the
Bosch pump, but require a modified mounting setup, I think. Anyhow, not a
monster of a job to do, be careful of sparks though!
FYI, the Python Injection part number was 712-312. Inside the box was a
rebuilt Bosch 'A' unit, with screen. Our car was one of which the factory
TSB advised cutting out the intake screen. I did this, carefully. Have run
the car pretty hard, about 75 city miles in two days, no problems yet.
Hope this helps someone.
Cheers to All,
Eric Wulf

nice to see her now & then ).........ANYway they wanted $$$360 sumthin, BUT
they said something VERY interesting that made me

you can't buy the pump w/o the check valve, reason "by the time the pump
goes, it's definately time to change the check
