Having never driven one of the newer a4's, we set out to the Audi dealership
in Annapolis 2 nights ago. We drove a 96 2.8 auto, and a 99 1.8t with the
triptronic and the paddle shifts on the wheel (very cool but awkward in
corners.) It think the fixed ones on the column would be more practical.

The 99 was way faster, cornered better, more responsive, etc, blah, blah.
Salesman said it was the 'sport' model. Either way, it was fast. It had
the light tan and black leatherette interior which I personally liked. I
think thought for shear durability the leather is the way to go. To many
holes in the leatherette to get snagged on things.

BTW, the had a 97 A8q there. Pearl white, black interior, summer package
(no heated seats) Florida car with 29K miles for $29K, if anyone is
interested, the salesman's name is Renzy. He was very cool. Stayed late
with us, pulled a bunch of cars for us to drive. Nice guy.
