I'll have to disagree with the statement below.
I've used RainX for years and never had problems such as this gentleman.
My coat of RainX usually lasts at least 4 weeks, even after 6 weeks,
there is some benefit. 

Key point, start with a VERY clean windshield. I use BonAmi cleanser to
throughly clean the windshield. Then I apply two coats of the RainX.
Then do only one side at a time for the finishing step. Mist the
windshield with water from a spray bottle. Then buff vigorously. Use one
paper towel to buff and then a dry paper towel to finish off. The key
point is to put some work into it. These used to be the directions on
the bottle, then for some reason they changed them. I stick with the old
instructions, since they have served me well for over a decade.

The coat I have on right now is at least three weeks old, and still
working great.
