UrQ"s"?

In a conversation w/a customer today (Viper owner - and closet Audi lover), he
recalled a trek to the Sierras back in the mid-80s when he was doing ~65 (in a 4kq),
on a road with 2-4" of fresh powder, when a trio of what he ID's as Urqs' came
blasting past at ~100mph.

About 20 miles later, pulling into the hotel, there sat the 3 black "almost" Urqs
w/factory
plates.  Almost because they had no back seat, not that it was taken out, there was
no room for a back seat.

Inside, he met the 3 drivers (German) and got to talking.  One of them explained that
the cars were Urq *short* and had 4-wheel steering - not the type in the then current
Japanese cars - the implementation that, "will never again allow you to miss an
apex".

Has anyone heard of these little beasties or am I having my chain yanked (won't be
the 1st time)?
