Drivers door / Outside temperature sensor

Does anybody know if my 1992 S2 (5spd) is meant to have an external temperature sensor or is it an option.  The reason I ask is that I have heard that the display on the dash can stop working so don't know if I have one or not.

Also my drivers side door sometimes doesn't close properly but after a few slams eventually clicks shut - is there something that can be easily adjusted to sort this ?
