I am the new owner of a 1985 5000s turbo, this is my first Audi. Although
I've owned 10 VWs, one of them a 5 cyl. Quantum, and my brother has an '86
4000cs quattro. So I won't be completely clueless when it comes to fixing
it. The Audi was advertised in the local paper (Green Bay, WI) for $175 or
best offer,
got it for $150. I thought maybe it would be a good donor car for an engine
swap into my brother's 4000csq, when I saw it I decided it was in too nice
of condition to part out. I've got some pics of it on my website:
www.geocities.com/mk1madness/audi5000.html It does have some problems, the
heater was taken
out in an attempt to change the heater core and never put back in, and the
automatic transmission is having problems. I have the transmission from the
previously mentioned Quantum, that is still good, from the information I've
gathered they have the same gear ratios, just a different final drive ratio.
I shouldn't have any problems with the swap, I've r&r the transmission on a
4 cyl. Quantum without removing the final drive from the car. The 5000
didn't come with an owners manual, so I'm still trying to figure out how all
the stuff works. It did come with a Haynes repair manual, but that doesn't
have
very much information in it. Where would be a good place to get an owners
manual? Also is there anyplace I can get a Bentley repair manual for less
than what I paid for the whole car?
