Which ATF to use

I have never heard of a car manufacturer or oil company recommend the use
of ATF to clean the engine therefore I would not try it. If several of you
are going to try it let us know if engine blows up etc..
Any type of Dexron would do I suppose, I think we are getting a bit fussy
in chooseing what type to use (1,2 or 3).
For those of you with cats will this method not overheat the converter?
