Well, for those of you who can't read German: it's a beautiful
article, claiming that where once the Audi Coupé GT was as out-of-
style as white socks under a black suit, it is now on it's come back.
A quick translation:
'Smooth and boxy, cut out with a Volvo-axe. Of the 49296 Coupés
made before 1983, only 710 remain in Germany. It's got the C-pillar
of a bus. However, once you get into the typical VW sport seats of
the time, you realise: the Audi Coupé is back. And the first and
biggest pleasure derives directly from its engine, or better: the
sound of it. It is composed of five cylinders in line and with every
punch on the accelerator, it downright pleases the ears. Something
like this - ear to brain: "This thing's got power." Brain to ear: "Don't
lie to me, the ass-o-meter says it hasn't". Ah well, we're just
spoiled brats nowadays, expecting the 200+ hp of the urquattro
where this machine only offers a civilized 115. The Coupé is more
like a gentleman's driver - gliding along in comfort without the
feeling of being underpowered. I advise a cruising speed of 90
mph, which lets you enjoy it's remarkably modern suspension.
Tight and comfortable. Vorsprung durch Technik: it has indeed kept
it in all those years."
I've read it aloud to my Coupé. It is really proud of itself now and
looks forward to the 400-mile drive that it will do tomorrow...
