my brake saga continues....

Hey gang,

Well FINALLY got the replacement lines in for the rear calipers on my 87
5ktq. Took the rear wheel off and started taking off the brake caliper to
get the line off. Noticed, wow this whole wheel shakes alot! Closer look
reveals the bottom of the rear shock is completely snapped off the body of
the shock. No wonder its been rattling when I hit a bump. As I have the
rear HD Blisteins and the Eibach spring kit already, I'll be switching over
to them sooner than I thought and without installing the front set till I
get front shocks.

Got the brake line in with some convincing and went to install the caliper.
Well the pads are worn almost completely out on the inner edge of the pad
and hardly any wear on the outer edge. I think I need to replace that
caliper and rotor :(. Anyone know if the front rotors from a 5ktq are the
same as the rears? I have a couple old rotors at dad's in the cellar, but I
havent compared pn's or anything yet.

Finished installing the caliper and bled the brakes. Everything seems to be
working ok now, but definatly need a caliper/rotor and new pads back there.

Also got my rack from Chris Semple, thanks Chris!. That will have to be
installed very soon as I'm quite tired of leaving a Pentosin trail
everywhere I go. And to think, Sat I'm picking up a 1990 200tqw for the
wife. Life should get very interesting keeping 2 type 44's running :).

Anyways, if anyone has any idea on the front rotors vs rear rotors on a
5ktq, drop me a quick note.

Thanks

Rob
