3) What is the easiest way to get 12v switched current to the radio?
I want the radio to go off when I take the key out of the ignition.

... doesn't the chime sound when you open the door with the radio on?
What I did when I installed an aftermarket Sony deck that didn't work well
with the always on radio philosophy of my '78 Fox was to use the ignition
switch contact that the chime uses to tell you that the door is open with
the key in the switch to power a relay which switched the power to the deck.
It was a very simple operation that worked quite well IMO ... you could get
the radio to work with any key inserted into the ignition lock. Over time
the switch got a bit flaky, but some of the other contacts were misbehaving
as well, so they all got fixed with a new switch module ... a PM item on
those cars ...
HTH!
