I also talked to a guy that had belt squeal on his Opel, even though the belt was
tight enough. The problem: THe belts are available in different widths, 9.5 and
10.5 millimeters are to most common. He had a 9.5 belt on the engine, while he
should have had a 10.5. The result of this was that the belt was running in the
bottom of the pulley and slipping in the bottom of the groove. He replaced the
belt with a 10.5 and all problems gone!
