problem with remote lock/unlock

Hi List,

today I have a problem with my Dad´s car - a ´96 A6 2,5 TDI Quattro. The
remote control to lock/unlock the doors does not work. First I thought that the
transmitter in the key is defective but I get a signal from it. The battery
in the key is also OK. According to the technician of the garage the frequency
of the transmitter corresponds to the frequency the receiver in the car
expects. Now my question: Are there any known Audi-specific bugs for the remote
opening like the mirror-control (cable) in the older models?
