You should not try to engage the clutch without gas and oil being present.
Your low pressure switch should prevent that from happening but you never
know.

It is unlikely that the clutch will engage without at least some pressure.
To get this you must go through the recharge regimen which if it uses R12
must be done by a certified techie.

Its also worthwhile $ wise as this stuff costs more than gold today.
