100CS Avant: the search is over

Well, yesterday my S.O. and I took the plunge and bought a "new" 1994 100 CS
Quattro Avant. The car is an original, maintained by the dealer car, with
39,xxx miles. Emerald Green with Anthracite (read: black) leather.
I will pick up the car late this month and then get to know it REAL well on
the 1650 odd miles that I will drive it home.
The car appears to be equipped with everything that Audi offered, as far as
I know. The original sticker is with the car, so says the salesman, and the
original list was around $49,000 miles...seems like a lot to me, but I know
that these cars were at the top end of Audi's crazy pricing scheme in those
years.
Wish me luck. By the way, right now, the best "buy" in a used car is a 1998
Audi A6. There are a gazillion of them, as in 1998, Audi had special lease
promotions and leased a gazillion of them. They are now coming off lease
and are an absolute glut on the market. If you can justify spending a bit
over $20,000 for a car, then there are some wonderful, 35-45,000 mile A6s
out there waiting patiently...well, maybe not TOO patiently...for a driver.
Right now, on Autotrader ALONE, there are 500 1998 Audi A6s listed
nationwide. I considered a couple of them, but the bottom line WAS the
bottom line: my 100CS was $7500 less, is less to insure and pay excise
taxes on.
The only potential downside is that the 100CS is Emerald, and my V8 Quattro
is Dark Red. That means that when the garage door rolls up, the inside of my
garage may resemble some sort of Audi Christmas tree....oh, sure: I CAN
live with it!
