sounds like when you were repairing wires the first time you may have crossed 2 wires and connected them back to the wrong wire.

Hello All,
Fortunatley, it has been a while since I have posted my problems. When you don't drive them much, they don't complain much!
I am trying to repair the windows on my '86 5ktq. After intermittant operation, the driver's window stuck down last week. I jumped the switch connector to the battery to bring it up. Yesturday, I repaired four or five broken wires with frayed and cracked insulation that pass through the rubber boot from the door into the dash. It was getting late, so I decided to fix the rest later. I couldn't resist a quick test, however.
I hooked-up the switches again and turned the ignition key. The driver's window went down automatically. It would stop if I hit the "up" part of the switch, but upon release, it still went down by itself.
After closer inspection, I discovered that the wires I repaired were for the power mirrors. I figured that I would find the culprit today. So, this morning I unwrapped the big bundle that leads to the widow switches and repaired about 10 or 15 wires. My fingers are bleeding and frayed, but I have imoproved my soltering skills! The problem is that the same thing still happens. The driver's window goes down by itself if a switch is hooked up to it. I tried two different switches with the same results. The rest of the windows do not work. The sunroof does work. I am new to this electrical game, can anyone help me?
Please respond directly, since I am a digest subscriber and would love any help ASAP. THANKS!

ps. I swear that the original 5000 styling looks better every day. Clean and crisp aerodynamics look timeless next to today's self-conscious stylized "glob" designs.
