I don't know what's actually so bad about the Alfa's drive-by-wire,
but I understand that on the Alfas with the manu-matic shifter,
the ECU will actually blip the throttle briefly during shift.  Sort
of cool...  Don't know how it works in practice, though; since I never
drove one.
